Madona and its Dutch friends  a special international exhibition

From March 9 to April 14, 2019, we invite you to a special exhibition, which has been created in cooperation with Madona Municipality, Madona Local History and Art Museum and the Dutch representative Erik Rörsch. In Madona, he is involved in project development ideas, and Erik has participated in several pool projects in Latvia. Not with standing his professional activities, he is a passionate art enthusiast and supporter.  With positive emotions, after more than a year of planning, he has brought an exhibition with seven artists from the Netherlands. These are experienced artists: Iris de Leeuw, a silk-screen printing technician, Rob Walters- a textile writer and graphite master, a watercolor master Muriel Ten Cate of Majorca; Asja  Shalekampa- handmade doll maker, Pieter Pauptit -ceramic artist;  Dorothé Pauptit-art therapist, and metal designer Dik Kompier. Exhibition participants will be accompanied by artist of Madona Danute Vēze with watercolors.
The exhibition will have combinations of contrast and color that combine classic art with modern art. There will be metal design, paintings, watercolors, ceramics and special dolls, highlighting each artist's handwriting.
We would like to highlight the artist Iris de Leeuw, one of the most famous in the Netherlands, who works in different techniques. She started her own screen printing studio and was the only woman in the whole of the Netherlands (1967 - 1975) who designed and produced posters for student opposition. In addition to silk-screen printing techniques, she has also created a variety of other works in different art styles and techniques. The artist prints, paints, writes, works with 3D objects, etc. Her works have been sold all over the world, and three of her collections have recently been purchased by Rijksmuseum Amsterdam (National Museum of Art of the Netherlands).
Welcome to the opening of the exhibition on March 9 14:00 Madona Local History and Art Museum Exhibition Hall at 10a Skolas Street, Madona. On March 8 and March 9, the exhibition hall will host workshops under the guidance of Iris de Leeuw (with a translation in Latvian). We invite any interested - both small and large - to participate in free workshops. For workshops, please visit the museum's website at www.madonasmuzejs.lv or https://www.facebook.com/muzejsmadona/.
